Objective
This SOP outlines how to view and edit an existing receptor in EnviroAutomate. There are two kinds of receptors:
Platform receptors are shared across all organisations. Tenant admins cannot change the core fields, but they can override Name, Description, Report Colour, and Sort Order for their organisation.
Tenant receptors were created by your organisation. Tenant admins can edit every field directly.
Prerequisites
You must be logged in as an administrator
The receptor must already exist in the system
Key Steps
1. Navigate to the Receptor
Click Receptors in the left sidebar under the Scientific Settings section.
Find the receptor you want to view or edit in the list.
Click on the receptor row, or click the edit icon (pencil) in the Actions column.
2. Check Which Banner Is Shown
The banner at the top of the Edit page tells you what you can change:
Green banner "This is a tenant-specific receptor. You can edit all fields directly." - Your organisation created this receptor. Every field is editable. Skip to step 3.
Grey banner "This Receptor is platform wide, and not editable by Tenant Admins. You can override specific field values for your tenant using the override buttons." - This is a platform receptor. Core fields are read-only. Use the Override buttons to customise specific fields for your organisation (step 4).
3. Edit a Tenant Receptor (Green Banner)
If your organisation owns the receptor, you can change any field directly:
Name - The name of the receptor.
Matrix - The sampling matrix this receptor applies to.
Group - The receptor group this receptor belongs to.
Subgroup - The subgroup within the receptor group, if applicable.
Description - A description of the receptor.
Report Colour - The colour used in investigation level tables and reports. Use the colour picker or enter a hex code such as
#FF0000.Sort Order - The display order within the receptor group. Higher numbers display first.
Click Save to apply your changes.
4. Override a Platform Receptor (Grey Banner)
For platform receptors, the core fields are read-only. You can still customise how the receptor appears in your organisation by overriding specific fields.
The following fields can be overridden:
Name
Description
Report Colour
Sort Order
To create an override:
Click the Override button next to the field you want to customise.
A dialog appears showing the Original Value (the platform-wide value) and a field for your New Value.
Enter your organisation's preferred value and click Save.
The field is highlighted yellow and shows an Overridden for your tenant indicator.
To remove an override:
Click the Override button on a field that has been overridden.
In the dialog, click Remove Override.
The field reverts to the platform-wide value.
Overrides only affect how the receptor appears within your organisation. The platform value remains unchanged for everyone else.
Overridable Fields
The following fields can be overridden for your organisation:
Name - Customise the receptor name
Description - Customise the receptor description
Report Colour - Change the colour used in your organisation's investigation level tables and reports
Sort Order - Control the display order of this receptor for your organisation
5. View Audit Log (Optional)
Click the Audit Log button in the top-right corner of the Edit page to view the change history.
Fields You Can Override on a Platform Receptor
Name - customise the receptor name to match your organisation's conventions.
Description - customise the receptor description.
Report Colour - change the colour used in your organisation's investigation level tables and reports.
Sort Order - control the display order of this receptor for your organisation.
Changing Fields That Cannot Be Overridden on a Platform Receptor
Matrix, Group, and Subgroup cannot be overridden. If your organisation needs a receptor with a different Matrix, Group, or Subgroup, create a new tenant receptor instead:
Go to Scientific Settings > Receptors and click Create Receptor.
Fill in the fields you need, including the correct Matrix, Group, and Subgroup.
Save the new tenant receptor. It will only be visible to your organisation.
This gives you a receptor with the exact configuration you need without affecting the platform receptors used by other organisations.
Differences from the Create Page
Two modes - The Edit page shows either a tenant receptor (fully editable) or a platform receptor (read-only with override buttons), depending on who owns the receptor.
Override buttons - Available on platform receptors for Name, Description, Report Colour, and Sort Order.
Audit Log - Available on Edit, not on Create.
Cautionary Notes
Tenant overrides only affect your organisation's view of the receptor.
Overriding the Report Colour changes the colour used in your organisation's investigation level tables. Choose a colour that is distinct from other receptors.
Editing a tenant receptor's Matrix, Group, or Subgroup may change which sites and investigation levels use the receptor. Review the impact before saving.
Tips for Efficiency
Use the Report Colour override to match your organisation's preferred colour scheme in reports.
Use the Name override to match your organisation's terminology for receptor descriptions.
Use the Sort Order override to control how receptors are ordered in your site receptor selections.
Use the Audit Log to track changes to receptor details.
