Objective

This SOP outlines the steps to create a new analyte suite in EnviroAutomate. Analyte suites are collections of analytes grouped together for laboratory ordering and reporting purposes. They define which analytes should be tested as a set when sending samples to a laboratory.

Prerequisites

  • You must be logged in as an administrator

  • The analytes you want to include must already exist in the system

Key Steps

1. Navigate to the Create Analyte Suite Page

  • Click "Analyte Suites" in the left sidebar under the Scientific Settings section

  • Click the "Create Analyte Suite" button at the top of the list

2. Enter Analyte Suite Information

Fill in the required fields (marked with a red asterisk):

  • Name - The name of the analyte suite (e.g., "Standard Groundwater Suite", "TRH/BTEXN Suite")

  • Report Description - A description that will appear in reports when this suite is referenced. This is required.

Optional fields:

  • Sort Order - A number that controls the display order relative to other suites. Higher numbers display first.

3. Save the Analyte Suite

  • Click "Save" to create the suite

  • You will be redirected to the Edit page where you can add analytes to the suite

Copying an Existing Suite

You can create a new suite by copying an existing one:

  • From the Analyte Suites list, click the copy icon on the suite you want to duplicate

  • The Create page will open in copy mode with the name, report description, and analyte selections pre-populated from the source suite

  • In copy mode, a full analyte selector is shown allowing you to search, filter, and adjust the analyte selections before saving

  • Modify the name and any other details as needed, then click "Save"

Analyte Selector (Copy Mode)

When creating a suite in copy mode, you can search and select analytes using a powerful filter interface:

  • Filter by Group - Narrow the list to analytes in a specific analyte group

  • Filter by Matrix - Show only analytes for a specific sampling matrix

  • Filter by Concentration Type - Filter by concentration type (e.g., Total, Dissolved)

  • Filter by Unit of Measure - Filter by unit (e.g., mg/kg, ug/L)

  • Search by name or CAS - Type in the search field to find analytes by name or CAS Registry Number

  • Show selected only - Toggle to show only the analytes currently selected

  • Select All - Use the header checkbox to select or deselect all visible analytes

  • Clear Filters - Reset all filters to show all available analytes

A badge at the top right shows the total number of selected analytes.

Cautionary Notes

  • Analyte suites you create are specific to your organisation

  • The Report Description is required and will appear in generated reports β€” make it clear and professional

  • When not in copy mode, analytes are added after creation on the Edit page

  • In copy mode, if you navigate away before saving, you will lose your analyte selections β€” a warning will appear

Tips for Efficiency

  • Use the copy feature to quickly create variations of existing suites

  • Use descriptive names that make it clear what analytes the suite contains

  • Set the Sort Order to control how suites are ordered in dropdown menus
