Objective

This SOP outlines how to edit an existing analyte suite in EnviroAutomate. The Edit page allows you to update the suite's details and manage which analytes are included using a searchable, filterable analyte selector.

Prerequisites

  • You must be logged in as an administrator

  • The analyte suite must already exist in the system

Key Steps

1. Navigate to the Analyte Suite

  • Click "Analyte Suites" in the left sidebar under the Scientific Settings section

  • Find the suite you want to edit in the list

  • Click on the suite row, or click the edit icon (pencil) in the Actions column

2. Update Analyte Suite Information

  • Name - Update the suite name

  • Report Description - Update the description that appears in reports. This is required.

  • Sort Order - Update the display order (higher numbers display first)

3. Search and Select Analytes

The analyte selector allows you to add or remove analytes from the suite:

Filtering

  • Filter by Group - Narrow the list to analytes in a specific analyte group

  • Filter by Matrix - Show only analytes for a specific sampling matrix (e.g., Soil, Fresh Water)

  • Filter by Concentration Type - Filter by concentration type (e.g., Total, Dissolved)

  • Filter by Unit of Measure - Filter by unit (e.g., mg/kg, ug/L)

  • Search by name or CAS - Type in the search field to find analytes by name or CAS Registry Number. Matching text is highlighted in the results.

  • Clear Filters - Reset all filters to show all available analytes

Selecting Analytes

  • Check the box next to each analyte you want to include in the suite

  • Uncheck to remove an analyte from the suite

  • Use the "Select All" checkbox in the header to select or deselect all visible analytes on the current page

  • Use "Show selected only" to filter the table to show only analytes currently selected for the suite

  • A badge shows the total number of selected analytes

The table shows each analyte's Name, CAS Registry Number, Group, Matrix, Concentration Type, and Unit of Measure. Surrogate analytes are marked with a yellow badge.

4. Save Changes

  • Click "Save" to update the suite

  • If you navigate away without saving, a warning will appear if you have unsaved changes

5. View Audit Log (Optional)

  • Click the "Audit Log" button in the top-right corner to view the change history

Differences from the Create Page

  • Analyte selector always visible - On Create (without copy mode), analytes are added after saving. On Edit, the full analyte selector is always available.

  • Audit Log - Available on Edit, not on Create

  • Unsaved changes warning - Edit warns you if you try to navigate away with unsaved analyte selection changes

Cautionary Notes

  • Always click "Save" after modifying analyte selections β€” changes are not saved automatically

  • The "Select All" checkbox only affects analytes visible on the current page β€” use pagination or increase the page size to see all analytes

  • Removing an analyte from a suite does not delete the analyte itself β€” it only removes the association

  • If you navigate away without saving, a browser warning will appear if you have unsaved changes

Tips for Efficiency

  • Use the filters to narrow down the analyte list before selecting β€” this is much faster than scrolling through all analytes

  • Use "Show selected only" to review which analytes are currently in the suite

  • Use the search field to quickly find a specific analyte by name or CAS number

  • Increase the page size (e.g., to 100) to see more analytes at once when making bulk selections
