About this tool
The Historical Data Visualiser is an interactive dashboard for exploring all historical data recorded against a Site. It pulls together analytical results, gauging records, water quality readings, soil classification, LFG bore data and SEM data, and lets you filter them by matrix, fieldwork task type, date range and assessment location. Charts and a data table are shown side-by-side for each panel.
Use it to spot trends, compare locations, sense-check new lab data against historical baselines, and prepare visuals for client reports.
Opening the visualiser
Open the Site you want to explore (TASKS → Sites → click the Site).
Open the Historical Data tab.
Click Visualise to open the Historical Data Visualiser in a new full-screen view.
Use the Back to Site link in the top-left to return to the Historical Data tab at any time.
If the Site has no historical data yet you’ll see a "No Historical Data" message instead of the dashboard.
Choosing a Matrix
The dark navigation band along the top shows one tab per matrix that has data for this Site (for example Soil, Groundwater, Surface Water, Soil Vapour). Each tab shows the total record count for that matrix.
Click a matrix tab to switch the dashboard to that matrix.
Only matrices with data appear - empty matrices are hidden.
Switching matrix reloads the assessment locations available in the filter bar.
Choosing a Fieldwork Task Type
The pill row immediately below the matrix tabs lets you narrow further by fieldwork task type within the selected matrix. Each pill shows the number of records of that type.
Click a pill to filter the panels to that fieldwork task type.
Pills update whenever you change matrix.
Filtering the data
The filter bar above the panels controls what each chart and table shows.
Date range. Use a preset (All, 30 days, 6 months, 1 year) or pick custom From and To dates with the date pickers. Picking custom dates clears the active preset.
Locations. Use the multi-select dropdown to limit the data to specific assessment locations (e.g., monitoring wells, soil bores). The summary text shows how many of the available locations are currently selected.
Apply / Reset. Click Apply to update the panels with your selected filters. Click Reset to clear filters back to all dates and all locations.
Reading the panels
Each panel shows a chart with a synced data table underneath. The panels available depend on what data exists for the selected matrix and fieldwork task type:
Analytical Results - lab results plotted over time, with a table of the underlying values.
Gauging - standing water level / depth-to-water trends from gauging events.
Water Quality - field water quality parameters (pH, EC, DO, ORP, temperature, etc.) over time.
Soil Classification - logged soil profile data.
LFG Bore - landfill gas bore monitoring data.
SEM - soil ecological monitoring data.
Hover any chart to see the value at that point. The data table beneath each chart shows the same records and can be scrolled and paginated.
Returning to the Site
Click Back to Site in the top-left navigation to return to the Site’s Historical Data tab. The visualiser is read-only - changes to the underlying data are made on the Historical Data tab itself.
Tips
Start with the All date preset to see the full history, then narrow in once you spot the period of interest.
Use the location filter to compare a small number of locations directly - selecting too many at once can clutter the chart.
If a matrix or fieldwork task type pill you expect is missing, check the Historical Data tab - there may be no records of that type yet for the Site.
If the panels look empty after applying filters, broaden the date range or clear the location filter to confirm whether data exists.
