Objective

View the analyte groups configured in EnviroAutomate and customise how they appear for your organisation. Analyte groups categorise related analytes (e.g., PAH, TRH, BTEXN) and are used throughout the system for COPC configuration, investigation levels, and laboratory data processing. They are shared across all organisations and cannot be directly edited, but you can override specific fields for your organisation.

Prerequisites

  • You must be logged in as a Tenant Admin.

  • Navigate to Scientific Settings > Analyte Groups in the sidebar.

The Analyte Groups List

The list page displays a table of all analyte groups. You can search by name, abbreviation, or description using the search bar at the top of the page.

Viewing Analyte Group Details

Click on any analyte group row to open its detail page. All fields are displayed as read-only:

  • Name — the full name of the analyte group (e.g., "Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons").

  • Abbreviation — a short name (e.g., "PAH", "TRH", "BTEXN").

  • Sort Order — controls the display order relative to other groups. Higher numbers display first.

  • Description — a description of the analyte group.

An information banner shows how many analytes belong to the group. If the group has no analytes assigned, a warning banner is shown instead.

Overriding Fields for Your Organisation

Although you cannot edit analyte groups directly, you can override certain fields so they display differently within your organisation. The platform-wide value remains unchanged for other organisations.

Fields You Can Override

  • Name — customise the group name to match your organisation's conventions.

  • Abbreviation — set an organisation-specific abbreviation.

  • Sort Order — control the display order of this group for your organisation.

The Description field cannot be overridden.

How to Create an Override

  1. Open the analyte group detail page.

  2. Click the Override button next to the field you want to customise (Name, Abbreviation, or Sort Order).

  3. A dialog appears showing the Original Value (the platform-wide value) and a field for your New Value.

  4. Enter your organisation's preferred value and click Save.

  5. The field will now show a yellow highlight and an "Overridden for your tenant" indicator.

How to Remove an Override

  1. Click the Override button on a field that has been overridden.

  2. In the dialog, click Remove Override.

  3. The field will revert to the platform-wide value.

Audit Log

Click the Audit Log button in the top-right corner of the detail page to view the change history for the analyte group.

Important Notes

  • Analyte groups are shared across all organisations and are read-only. You cannot create, edit, or delete them.

  • Overrides only affect how the group appears within your organisation — other organisations are not affected.

Tips for Efficiency

  • Use the Name override to match your organisation's naming conventions without affecting other organisations.

  • Use the Sort Order override to control how groups are ordered in COPC and investigation level displays for your organisation.

  • Check the analyte count banner to confirm the expected number of analytes are assigned to the group.
